Thought that was it but had to confirm! I thought Florida's laws said you can't rap from sunset to sunrise.

I don't know what Florida laws are......From what I recall of them, it takes someone with a law degree to try to figure out what you can and cannot do there when it comes to hunting and fishing/crabbing.

My father-in-law and I used to leave our pots(not traps) out in the Peace River for days on end....

Florida law, similar to Texas, does not allow you to harvest or pull crab traps after dark.  They can soak during those hours as long as you leave them in the water.  They are also legally referred to as traps, not pots.

called traps......that is what causes a problem and confusion .....they should specify that a trap lets a crab come and go if not tended , whereas when a crab enters a pot he can not get out if it is a certain size.........i can't beleive how the laws vary from state to state and each state claims their laws are the best for the crab.?????
