Hey everybody!  Used to get chicken necks as bait from the Chicken House.  Telephone is out of service.  Anyone know where we can get 40 pounds or even a 5-gallon bucket of 'em?

Yah...I found the same thing.  No more Chicken House.

I've been trying like crazy to find chicken necks in Richmond (or better yet, Midlothian).

Any ideas would be very welcome.

Try looking at Save A Lot or Farmers Food.  I've been pretty lucky with them every time I go.  I even talk to the workers in the seafood section and ask them to save me the bad chicken.  Bought a 12 pack of legs for $1.  Let me know what your luck is.  Where you going crabbing at??

I get mine at Farmers also. Talk to them. They have ordered an extra 40# box for me, sold it to me at their price.

Thanks, Crabby!  I'll check them out.  Is that in Hopewell?

I typically buy 40 pounds at a time (or did from the Chicken House), since I use it for my trotline, and sometimes pots.  The grocery stores don't get them in that bulk.

I just found out that Tom's Meats in Mechanicsville sells 40 pound flats of chicken necks for $30.75.  Going there tomorrow.

Confirmed on Farmer's Foods.  Both the Hopewell and Louisa location can get them in 40lb boxes.

Isn't there a Tyson's poultry processing plant on Mountain Road (Route 33) about a mile west of I-295? It seems like they would be an excellent source for bulk chicken necks.

Picking mine up at Tom's Meat off of Mechanicsville tnpk & I-64... Went to that plant @ 4:30pm 2 weeks ago, gave out some $$$ for necks, but was told they would give it a try (no one called me back) but the necks are used in dog food and even the feathers are used... No luck, called management even they said NO, just as well did not want workers to get into trouble for pilfering.
