Is it legal in nj to use a spotlight at night

Why is it so hard to get a straight answer on this topic. Have gotten 2 different answers from divisin of fish game and wildlife, and my local game warden has told me he dosent believe its legal but he's not sure. Lol My question is can I use a high powered headlamp/flashlight to shine on the pilings and bridges when dip netting and pulling handlines from my kayak at night? Any opinions and direction as to where to find out would be appreciated. Thanks

I believe it's legal, so long as the light isn't causing safety issues for others on the water or passing cars (if you're near a bridge.)
