Don't know, but we had a 10.5 stuffed for my boss at crab house I worked for. Biggest one I've ever seen.

I believe the world record blue crab was 11 inches and it is at the Virginia Institute of marine studies. It was kept alive then stuffed when it died. That's the word I heard

Personally, I'd shoot lot's of photo's and then place him in a nice relaxing sauna til he turned red!
Pictures don't collect as much dust. and a mounted crab doesn't taste all that great!

There was an 8 1/2 caught off the Shrewsbury and in the paper last year. Caught plenty of 8 1/2's NJ, it might have been around the time of the Civil War, but my age is showing again Just Like MD, check there state record.

I got a 10" several years ago crabbing the back bay of Edisto Island, SC. The only reason I remember was because we went to the marina for dinner one night (we were on vacation) and the marina had a big fish contest going on for all the game fish that you can catch there, they also had a crab mark going and the biggest crab up to that point was a puny 8". Well I knew I was catching them that big and bigger so the over the next few days that mark went up. It helped that I crabbed where the Geechies (or Gullahs) crabbed. http://www.knowitall.org/gullahnet/I got a TEE SHIRT for winning, but I know anyone of the Geechie crabbers could of out done me. But more importantly I caught numerous crabs (that's all I ever do for 6 of the 7 days since I'm not a beach guy, just a beer and crab guy). The other nice thing was the Stone Crabs, though they were purely hit or miss. Oh and the She-Crab soup and the low country dishes, fantastic!
