Turned down the heat a bit and didn't flip them, and they came out even better today.

They look great! I would add tarragon and parsley in your butter sauce. If you feel like being creative I would incorporate a white or sherry wine and/or thai chilli. Also get the wood chips going to add that smoke favor. Its hard to get blue crabs out here in State College PA (Im working on fixing that) but when I do I will share my recipes. Good stuff though.

You remove the shell, clean out the lungs and guts, and then rinse them.  Here is a link to a video I made on cleaning them:

Here's a video of grilling the cleaned crabs:

I'm from New Jersey and the catch was from the Maurice River. Little confused as to why there is discussion about females and CBC in a recipe thread, and I do not appreciate it. These topics can be discussed elsewhere on the forums.

Those look good CraigFos. How many did you put on the grill at once? I think I'm gonna add some cayenne pepper and try it like that next time.

I made all the females first, there was not many. It is legal to keep females 4.5" or bigger in the state of New Jersey. Please keep the off-topic stuff to a different thread. Thanks.

How is a question about the gender (or size or source or treatment) of any animal you're cooking "off topic"?

Thanks for the recipe.  Looks good.

I know this is old, but it looks incredible and I'm gonna try it tonight.

Do you guys clean the guts out because it doesn't flavor well on the grill or is it because you just don't like the guts.

I enjoy the mustard and would like to keep it in the crab unless, again, it doesn't flavor well.

Thanks

I don't eat the mustard, so I'm not sure how well it would grill.  Give a try with mustard left in an let us know how it taste.

Craigfos,
I did half and half. There was no noticeable taste difference and because of that, the next time I will remove the mustard to make room for more of the sauce you created.

Another thing, I tried with small crabs in case I didn't like them. I suggest using larger crabs

With that said, they were as incredible as they looked on here.

And your time, 20 mins, was perfect.

I will be grilling them like this again for sure

Thanks so much for sharing this recipe........I give it a 9, but only because I screwed up.

Tried this today.  Came out fantastic.  Grilled blue crab is A+.  Craig, just like you, my wife had grown tired of boiled crab, but she thought the grilled ones were awesome.

Gonna do it again next weekend!  Will be trying different variations on the seasoning.  May even try wrapping some in bacon.  Figure I'll need to microwave pre-cook the bacon just a bit to make sure it will get done in the 20 minutes it takes for the crabs to get done on the grill.

Let us know how it comes out with bacon.  Sounds interesting.

Craig, I grilled some again today.  This time I marinated the crabs in fajita marinade for an hour before cooking.  They turned out good, but your butter mixture is better.  Will go back to that from now on.

I didn't try the bacon, instead I made some bacon-wrapped jalapenos to go on the grill with the crabs.

P.S. The crabbing has been good over here for the last month.
