I went out on the water in eastern shore on 7/03/12 on my first solo trip. On the water at 4:40... Off at 10:30 with a packed bushel... While out there, two commercial guys in a boat similar to mine motored over and asked where I was laying. I pointed and they offered a bit of advice and went on their way. About two hours later I suffered from a rookie mistake that I'm not proud of, being on the water for 20+ years... I ran out of bait. As I was pulling up traps that were missing the necks, I had no choice but to start stacking them back in the boat. Out of my 30, I had 7 and counting traps that were getting picked clean. Then the same two commercial guys came up and asked how I was making out. I told them that I was doing ok but running out of options with my bait being picked. They handed me a half a bag of necks (maybe 10lbs), they said you'll hit alot harded if "you lay over there". I greatfully thanked them, picked up and started moving half my gear. They were right, I was pulling an average 6 crabs per run, on 14 traps... I quickly pulled the rest and laid out my new run. They came up once more and said they were goin to lunch, please keep an eye on they're setting gear, I agreed and never saw them after that. I was hoping to meet them on the ramp, I wanted to at least offer some bux for saving my [arse] out there with the bait.
If you are one of those guys, Thank you, I had a packed full bushel, I was even able to cull out some of the smaller ones. My family and I really appreciate that. What a great day on the water.

These guys were ok... They said they were Comm crabbers... If they're really not... Whatever, they were still straight up guys and didnt have to so much as even wave.
I did have one bad experience of the day that I didnt report... There was a guy in a commercial boat, he ran right up my line, running over each and every one of my floats... All the way up.

There is a comm that lives at Horn's Point that goes in to eat breakfast and lunch while crabbing.  One of the perks of living on the water.

Rofl, when I moved to NC from Md 26 years ago, people were saying we are going to dinner, I was confused since it was 12pm. My wife (NC girl) had to teach me the ropes of southern slan or colloquialisms :/
On the water crabbing however, "dinner" was a package of "nabs" or Vienna Sausages washed down with Coke or Pepsi running from one side of river to next.....no drive thru close by :x
