I know it gets a good bit colder up north but in Fla there arent alot of those kind of day. However I don't do alot of crabbing by the end of November. When do  yall call it quits for the year or do any of yall set traps out all year round for the heck of it??

I'm done as of today.  Not because the crabs have stopped.  Still have bunker.  I'm just tired of crabs and crabbing.   Cool

Plan on crabbing through the month of November.   Still have a couple of dates set aside for Jason22, BDC and MagnumTRex before this year is done.

When the wind starts blowing and the water cools off for me or I have a trip with low numbers.

Can't leave pots out all year round in Delaware.  Have to come out for Dec - March I think.

Crabbing season ends when deer season opens. laugh

We can crab year round but it usually slows down when the water temp reaches 50.  I'll run between hunts.  For the most part people around here are looking for turkey and oysters in November and sales slow down anyway.  December sale fall off bad because people are spending their money on gifts.  January is usually dead.  February everyone starts looking for crawfish for Mardi Gras.  By this time crabs are starting to bite and the start to another season.

I never did much hunting...and I'm from GA!!! I guess you do what your father takes you to do and he fished more than hunted.

Good years we crab through mid October and then pull the pots out before duck season opens.  Bad years, like this year, I pull the pots out when a hurricane is threatening; Isaac ended my season in August Sad.

Nobody runs trotlines here in LA (except me on occasion) so not much conflict between commercials and recs setting too close, crossing, etc..  One crab pot cork looks like another.  Much of the recreational crabbing is done from the banks, docks, weirs, etc.  However, there are certainly areas of the state that you wouldn't be able to leave a string of pots without getting stolen.  But they steal everyones, commercial and recreational...
