Hard To Believe!

So last Thursday Amy and I go crabbing and do real well but thats not what this is really about.
So this morning I'm outside doing some things and I go in the grass along side the driveway. All of a sudden I look down and see this crab in the grass. Well I think to myself, poor guy must have gotten out and I didn't notice you, well I go to touch him and all of a sudden he tries to pinch me !!! He is still alive !!! Now remember I said last Thursday, so that is 6 full days out of the water. Now I know its been cool and damp but thats seems really hard to believe.

I had one in the boat for a week. We had a stowaway from the week earlier still in the boat. I returned him back to the water. I figured he deserved it.

Very cool. Dew on the grass probably kept him alive.

I'm sure you meant well, but once they've been out of the water for a couple of days you may as well add him to the pot and eat him. When you put them back in the water they die in a about 10 minutes.

Never cooked just one crab before but he's in a pot on the stove right now. Hated to see him go to waste.

I believe it too... Years ago I was out to the edge of the marsh doing some work with my loader. When I rinsed the bucket it must have picked up a small crab. The loader was parked out in the summer Sun for over a week with only the morning dew as water. I don't know if the crab lived or died but it sure looked happy when I put him in the creek.
