Here is Finksburg Crabber's 2013 submission.

He measures a little bigger than an 8.5 sheet of paper, so I am saying 8.5" is fine may be 8 9/16 or 8 5/8 officially (tattoo -rich- will put final size on mount plaque)"

I caught him on the Wye 10.13.13 with my son..

He was sent to Tattoo today to get mounted.

Agreed and agreed.   Crabs should be live/freshly caught when the photos are submitted.   He looks like he came out of the freezer.   We rejected Wag's submission earlier in the year because it wasn't alive.

Now that Rich is back in action, we'll let him be the final arbitrator.    Nice crab no matter what that decision is.

I have no problem with Rich's measurement - I know how big he is....     I laid it on a sheet of paper with a yard stick as reference for the pic......  I tried to find a 12inch caliper, all the stores had was a 6 inch.....  As you know he was froze for Tattoo, like he asked me to do....    And the first pic of me holding him showing he was alive......  I don't need to win (just proud of the catch).  If those points didn't curve in, he could be close to 8 3/4 to 9....

Funny thing is I almost lost him too, he was coming out of the net and had to throw him on the boat almost onto my son....

Thanks RON on the nice crab no matter what comment....  Biggest crab so far for me EVER

Looks like a winning md crab to me. I'm headed to old mumbo shoal this weekend. Haven't been to this shoal since I was a little boy. I remember big waves and huge crabs. This shoal doesn't hold crabs until the NW October winds blow. Old Mr Tucker was a 80 year old comm crabber missing his thumb. I said "Mr Tucker, how did you loose your thumb?) He looked out onto the bay and pointed. He said "out there on that shoal lives the biggest crabs in the bay". He said "the biggest crab in the bay took my thumb one cold October day".  True story. He died on his boat crabbing at 92 years old. We bought crabs from him every 4th of July when I was a kid. I loved going to his house and seeing his boat and all the crabs. Really cool guy. I'm not sure that's how he lost his thumb, but that's what he told me.
