In OBX over Easter weekend, no crabs at the usual spots (Billy's & Crabby Fries, which is now Outer Banks Chef"s kitchen and similar take out place) Did see a lot of crab debris on the beach in KDH, and met another connection at Black Pelican...can't wait for July 4th !!!

Things should start picking up here again next week.............These 30-40 degree night have killed our early spring crabbing.............Temp in the upper 60's and lows in the 50's will kickstart it....NEXT WEEK "APRIL 10th 2013".........I HOPE...

Please put the date, mm/day/year, in the "Subject" of reports. That will help everyone searching for current reports. Thanks, The Management......

Fronts here are killing us too. NW winds blow the water out. Most of the boats are sitting on the bottom and the ones that can get out can't get to their traps because of the low tides. Things don't look good for Lk Pontchartrain. Outlook looks real bad. Good crabs fell off to nothing. Not worth it for me to go out. I'm going to start picking up on Friday.

Temps are picking up. I was on the ICW where my pots go in 2 days ago-- water temp 52.6. I'll be back on the water Monday to see the temps-- pots are ready, bait in the freezer, boat loaded with gas.... probably 2 weeks

Warmed up end of March, kids caught 2 boxes off of around 200 pots, then cold snap, down to 1/2 box. This week should be a turn around with temps in mid to upper 70's n night temps in 60's. On downside, have to wait for first real crab shed on full moon and see what happens after that.

Is anyone having any luck catching crabs yet ? I found a site saying the water temp in Currituck and Albemarle sound is only 48 F, is it really that cold ? I figured it would be above 52 by now grrrrr http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=36.086840909511004&lon=-75.79055786132812Anyone have any good sites to keep a check on water temp and tides ? Thanks.

Water is warming fast but--- I put 2 pots out Wednesday. Picked them up today-- not as many to make it worth while even if there were far fewer small throw backs. May 1st no matter what...
