Just did a story at JM Clayton in Cambridge, and they told me 4-5 pounds per bushel.

rarely will u yield more than six pounds of crab meat per bushel. That's not counting claw meat. If the picking house PC  is selling to is getting 10 pounds  of meat per bushel and buying them for 10 dollars per bushel, they're raking in the dough. I think I'm in the wrong business...By the way my grandfathers have owned 2 separate picking houses, and my dad has owned a picking house too. they didn't make that much profit..         
                                             
10 dollar investment for crabs per bushel
12 dollars per pound average per pound of crabmeat
picking 10 pounds of meat per bushel
equals a 110 dollar profit per bushel
                                                                        I think I'm going to start picking my crabs myself..



who sells bushles of crabs for $10?   wow!!!  I can't beleive thats all they pay for  bushel

Thats what alot of the picking houses pay for sooks. Which is what is picked for the crabmeat industry.
