7/15 on the Elk

On the water around 7 am, 12 traps and 600' of trot line using chk necks. was near the mouth of the elk at the bay. Had one sook in a trap. gave up around 1130. spoke to another boat at the ramp who caught nothing.

I crab the same area. Im hoping it will start in another two weeks or so. Lets hope all the monster rain storms are over or else we may not have a crab season on the Elk. I was out fishing and tubing with the kids over the weekend and saw a few trying at the mouth of the bohemia, don't know how they were doing but they were trying. I did see a claw of a soft shell crab float by.

I caught my first bushel last year in the Elk on July 22nd. With all of the rain we have had just don't know if it's going to happen this early.

I can remember 4 years ago I caught a bushel on the Elk in 2 hours. Last few years it has not been that great, but is a close crabbin spot late in the season.
