Ok ,I know that sounds like a dumb question, but with crabbing slow and not really many reports coming in,I thought this would be a good time to debate this issue. This isn't an attempt to get people to give up their spots,or get people to post more in order for me to find places to crab.I have my spots in de and md,and can't get to some that have been recommended to me.What i'm getting at is sometimes people either seem apprehensive to post or lash out at people for posting and I disagree with both.My reasoning, and correct me if I'm wrong is-Most people have their spots, they're familiar with where to put in,water depths etc, plus i'd be willing to bet for most distance, gas and toll prices would all have an effect on where they crab.I realize a lot of people lurk on here just looking for spots and again I'm not saying exact or even general areas, but I find it hard to believe that river would be elbow to elbow with crabbers after a good report, correct me (like my wife does) if I'm wrong.

I will post general area but the river I crab on is small so I don't give exact details. I don't want to take that chance. I will however disclose it to those that wish to crab with me and have taken a few out with me. I will however disclose the location of black crab Cove to the highest bidder.

And so it is those we live with and should know who elude us. But we can still love them - we can love completely without complete understanding.

Without question the reports here attract people to certain bodies of water.

With that being said, I think it's great that people come to Patcong, with no idea where the holes are, or how the ledges work, or how strong the current is, or how boat wake can push their traps from the safety of the flats out into deep water where their either sink or end up floating with the tide.     It's become a Monday evening ritual for me to go through the creek and clean out all of the lost topless, box and ring traps that people leave behind from the weekend.    Grin

The best way to mark a hot spot so you can find it again but others can't is to paint a big red X on the floor of your boat.

Ron ,you're very open with your spots and were nice enough to show me your run in De,which I kept private as you asked.I think Nj and De are different than Md,due to less pressure on spots.I can't speak for md,I only hit the always crowded  Wye and pretty crowded Chester, and I've heard rumors about a desolate cove with just an old man and a young pickle maker in it.But Rivers or Creeks like the Patcong are what I'm talking about, will a "LOT" of people go to a new place not knowing anything about it,or stay where they're comfortable ?

There are more people coming to Patcong.    Saw two others who I didn't recognize running traps with floats today.   Saw another guy handlining and he looked like he was really ambitious with his orange basket and his brand new stainless steel orange basket topper.    Grin

The wye has always been a zoo. In fact I belive that it may have been worse if you can believe that. Schnaitmans used to have near a100 boats and would rent them multiple times each day on the weekends. There would be people waiting for boats to be returned to go out again. And yes the trailers were always that far up the road if not father. Insane

...and her name is Francine.    Hopefully Dan doesn't look too closely at the size of her Adam's Apple.
