The digest says "All pots and trot lines shall be marked with the identification number of the owner." Is this my CID on my NJ crab pot license or do I have to get another number from the state for each pot?

the number on your crab pot license is the number to use it will always be that number when you renew your license each year

I place my # on each buoy of my crab pots. I very rarely see anyone else's # visible on their buoys. Is it because they have not registered for their license?? Am I missing something??

maybe both also you can have a tag with the id # attached to the pot
or if thrown from the bank a stake with the # the holds the line
