advice for an amateur near Wilmington

 Hello!
  My father will be visiting my new home here in NC next week and I'm planning to take him to the coast to try some crabbing the weekend of the 9th. I got a few hand lines, some tongs, a net and a bucket, all I need now is a little knowledge!

 I'm looking for a place to go in the Wilmington area that we will have a good chance of catching a couple keepers. I could also use a place that is pretty easy access, my dad has 2 knee replacements and doesn't get around like he used to. Anyone have any place they can recommend?

 And, if we do get skunked, who sell crabs down there??

My boat is down until Wed but if you still have a few days we can bait 5 pots for a 4 - 6 tide change soak. You keep the catch! There will be some on a 24 hr soak but I prefer 48 or so... Wish my dad were still here so let's take care of yours while we can.

We found a pier on Topsail Island and we did well enough for us. Caught a lot of little ones that went back, but these are the ones I brought home. After learning a little more about crabs I wish I threw the only female back...
