I'm fairly new, so please help me with my understanding. I know that I can have up to 2 pots with permits at a time. However, I read reports of people with 12+ topless traps. How do you do it? Does each trap have a marker with your info on it? Can you have as many open (non pot) traps as you want?
Thanks

yes, as many open traps as you want. people just use certain style floats with different color combos. the chances of two of the exact same floats being in the same area at the same time is remote. a few weeks back we ran 42 traps. we just wished it would have produced more than 7 crabs. Sad

As long as you are "actively tending" the traps, you can set as many topless traps as you like.

Actively tending doesn't mean you set them, go drift for flounder or hop out of the boat and clam, then come back for them in an hour.    You should be actively working them.
