Just found this very timely post, The research on this has been intensive in every state, FYI I am 74 been a active Fishermen all my life. The situation is nothing new it was as Bad if not worse before my time in Many areas I am Life time Resident of NJ. The dumping in the waters was Out of site out of mind, There is every type of Pollutant , Contamination man has Concocted , In Every water way in NJ, The Industrial Northern part the worst I will define it as being north of Manasquan River, The Raritan Bay its Creeks Coves Beaches Are Extremely Contaminated, From there north it gets Worse, to No Marine Life at all. NJ is Ranked Top Cancer State Because of Industrial Pollution, My point is How Crabs Taste, Smell, The discussions over are they good to Eat, How Some, myself included will not Eat any Crabs from The Raritan North, West Proper, Some groups won't eat any sea food at all anymore, Yet many still make Fun of it with deniable statements and Laugh it off, Yes Crabs Taste different from from many Areas near and Far, even from same bodies of water, Many will Clean The crabs before cooking removing the Gut & Lungs, Scrubbing the Body To a point that helps since the most Contaminants are contained there, Moderation is Best, Joke all one want Smokers do, Drinkers do, As There are sites in NJ where Crabbing is Forbidden, Closed , Yet people Crab right next to The Signs in different Languages, 10 feet apart in Big Letters and Pictures, Also Deadly infections from being stabbed Pinched by crabs in badly polluted waters,
