Looks like the saltwater fishing license is going to happen here in Delaware. This includes crabbing and clamming. The cost projected is $8.50 for residents and $20 for non-residents. The last public meeting this evening. Mikesr

Mike Sr.
Did you see that article in the coastal point too ! The hunting license is also going to change,,, it's going to double. I don't mine paying a yearly fee if I know the money is going for a worthy cause. But I don't want to see the money spent on some pet project's geared to the chosen few.

Hunting and fishing fees are going up. I just hope they manage the $. DNREC Division of F&W published a Fisheries Funding Fact Sheet and Projected Revenues on the issue. It states the 'potential revenues from the fee changes while requiring a General Fishing License for all waters for rec fishing, clams and crabs" will be $3,140,945. They also list in the fact sheet where the $ will go. It is pretty detailed and the catagories are: "Critical Existing Unfunded Development Needs" about $3 million. "Potential projects that could be supported by additional funding for fisheries" about $4 million and "Other specific development project if major new funding becomes available" about $3 million. Many of the projects look necessary, but who knows?
I'll try to find a link for the fact sheet.

35 $ ramp fee two pots limit with white floats and your name and address on them, no limit on trot line nor traps last i checked after paying through the nose in jersey all these years dont mind the 8.50 for a salt and fresh and clam and crab license, jersey is 26.50 just for a fresh license

Is that $35 ramp fee good for all the ramps? Is the $8.50 lic. fee for non residents?
Thanks

If the state of DE manages the income from a saltwater fishing license well it will be the first time any DE state agency has ever managed anything well. My expectation is that they will screw it up as always.

Smitty McGees is a GREAT Irish bar in Fenwick Island. Right before the MD/DE line there is Rt 54. Head down there about 2 miles The bar is on the left in a small shopping center. The ramp is near it.
Hope that helps

Just happened to be there last Saturday to do a seatrial on a boat that I bought BTW Smitty's has one ramp that cost $5 to launch and another $5 to retrieve. Bring $5 bills with you because the ramp is monitored by an automated gate. You put $5 in the bill reader and the gate goes up then you launch. When you pull your boat out you have to do it again. I wouldn't go near it on holiday weekends becasue it gets crowded and doesn't have much parking. Also canal going out is a little tight but 14' boat is no problem. As for where to keep a boat I looked around after buying mine and the IRI Marina charges $10 a day to keep your boat there and is patroled 24 hours a day. They have 2 VERY nice ramps there. Hope this helps.
