You inspired me to do the same. I bought a stand tonight for my new tank and broke it while putting it together. Note to self.. Don't drink a bunch of beers and put stand together laugh

Thanks for the pics. Looks like I'm getting you into another job. Now I'm wondering if it's a Wye thing. I do know the immature females are very small and the mature ones are big. It would be nice to know if they do grow 3" or more on their final stage. Might have to smuggle one and send it to crabbywaters if he can stay sober enough to get his tank up and running.

Lol. Ive talked to a few and none i talked to ever had one grow that much on a shed. The 8" sooks more then likely came from a 6" sally.

Holy [email protected]@t.  I see a screwdriver, a saw blade, an air inflation needle, and a bottle of Advil next to your sloughing tank.

What in the name of all that is holy are you doing to those crabs?!?!?

Love it Flounder and those are some good eating crab.  A few pics of my shedding system are attached.  I have what is a called an open system since my wife and I live on the water.  I'm a commercial guy and both hard and softshell crab, although the money is really in the softshell crabbing.  We can do both down here in SW Florida year around which is sweet.  I have more than an understanding wife that helps me take shifts babysitting the peelers around the clock.  Also pics of a county club customer that buys from me, Palmetto Pines, here in Cape Coral and the chef sure makes nice dishes with ss crab.  A few as well of how I pack my ss crab for my Miami buyer and one of our Caloosahatchee River home fish tank we call it.  Turns out we get seahorses in our tanks in the winter months and I've keep a few for our 40 gal high tank.  They are REALLY neat and easy to keep once you train them to eat frozen food.  Although I rarely post pics of the "big jimmies" we catch because I always get the "well that is not the way to measure or Stanely tap measures are not accurate" etc., as most of you well know, but here is a 9.5" we got a while back.  I let my deckhand keep this big b.......ch and look what he did with it, haaaaaaaa.  Lastly is one in regard to how I grade my ss crab for the market down here in FL.  From large to small are slab, whale, jumbo and prime.  We also sell buffalos which are crab that have lost a claw.  Yal check out my website, I'm authorized to ship crab via Southwest air if you are in need during the winter months up your way. Thanks for looking and happy and safe crabbing.

Nice... thumbsup Right now I envy your warm water.  We are having some unusually cool nights for Aug.  Temp of the creek I draw my water from for my tanks has dropped and the peelers are just sitting. Undecided

Ill have a freezer full so no need to ship them north by appreciate the gesture. Looks like a nice system. Mines more of a hobby but i did just sell my last 8 to a buddy. So. This is the million dollar question lately.. Have you ever had one shed and grow more then 3" in one growth?

How do you get your peelers? Pots?

The question we're trying to get an answer to is the growth size on the final shed. Was any of them 7" softies 3 or 4" before right before that final shed.

I had numerous 7-71/2 softies last week. The question was has any crab ever gone from a 3" crab to a 6" crab during a slough?

Normally I see 35-45% increase in size if none of the legs get hung up.  I have so many going at one time, and they normally start in full swing around midnight-5 am I'm to tired to measure:)  Even my bait crab when molting will end up at primes at times.
