I caught three dozen in an early season spot.  Muddy cove filled with mussels growing in clumps at waters edge. Could see where the crabs had cracked open a bunch at high tide. Water temp was 68 degrees, depth was two to four ft. They were all heavy and full, not like what shows up at the spring run, which is about four to five weeks away here in N. Florida.
Going to try it next week, same spot, same tidal conditions, incoming. Will take a couple clam bags and fill them with a few fresh mussels to see how they work. Rest of traps will have fresh chicken.
Last year my buddy up in Maryland didn't do well until July. Than it was game on until October.

Friday (3-20) will determine when I'll drop my trot line.  If crawfish are running I'll stick with them but if things are slow I'll go closer to the gulf and drop my trotline for a few crabs.

I had to de-bait my trotline to make room for my poggies. Now I hate to think I have to re-bait that darn thing again. Angry

Late May, most likely.  I'll typically give it a try when TPLM2 is reading 65 degree water temp.

I'll be dipping traps in April for sure.

...or maybe sooner...

Luckily tonight's rain is washing away today's snow that fell on the deck.

Got out yesterday.  Not good but better than last year.  Somewhere around 55 pounds on 325 traps.

After the annual closing of the bay at the beginning of the month, my traps are back out and I'm ready to run them, but the rain wont stop.  It should stop tomorrow afternoon, but I've got my granddaughter then so I may not make it out until Monday.

Just finished rigging up my traps. Replaced a lot of hog rings, some new lines added and added snoods to my traps. Old ones where not good anymore.
