With people having trouble with pots being stolen or emptied,I was wondering if people who crab in Florida can report here if they have seen any signs belonging to the FWC that state it is a felony to tamper with another's pot or trap without permission.
these signs are 12'' x  18'' and made of metal with the FWC logo....I would expect to see them at ramps and other public waterfront areas.

  please post your findings..

St. Andrews Bay, NW Fl. West Bay boat ramp.
Saw FWC launch their boat and park their trailer here, more than once. Saw them do the same yesterday.
Plenty of signage on Ramp Rules, but nothing on what you are curious about.
If this is the new FWC policy, they could have put up that sign yesterday, but didn't.

Also know that a commercial crabber uses this same ramp every day.

So where are you going with this?

I wonder why they are not displayed ......I have a dozen in my garage and have placed about 6 at local ramps myself...this was  about 7 years ago.....I have not seen another other than the ones I put up.

as you say they have many other signs, from manatees to sawfish posted at most ramps.

3rd degree felony.
Don't know why the signs aren't up.

Why do you have a dozen at your house?

Now we know where they went Grin and  Senior wants info on where to get more laugh

But seriously, if you know someone on the Blue crab advisory committee, let him know. It sounds like a Policy that needs to be revisited.

I observed the sign somewhere in fl. years ago..    while at the district office in WPB , I asked about the signs not being in the area.   no one knew about them. my description of the sign was overheard by a Lt. who was passing by...He said that he thinks there is a box of them in a closet.. He returned with about 6 and gave them to me if I would put them up...I was told they did not time to do that.    I put up the signs in the Stuart area.   I needed more and called Tallahassee ...They sent me a bundle, and I still have bunch left....
I know the FWC has these signs in storage, and just wondered if the FWC in other districts had the ''time'' to put them up.  that is why I asked for reports from around the state.

Sounds like an opportunity for a job. Volunteer your services for a reasonable fee and pepper the State!

Saltysenior, can you post a pic of the sign?

I haven't seen any here and you have jogged my memory about them being placed.
I would like to ask our local FWC office about them.

Thanks, Art Cannon.

I've not seen one of those signs anywhere - BUT would be more than happy to place a few around our ramps and lock.  Do you have a contact person that I could get hold of to see about getting a few?

They are nice looking signs. I haven't seen any posted in the Daytona New Smyrna Beach area.

Cool

i wish TPW would make something like this for us as well.... i could post em up in front of the traps getting robbed, so along with the tag that says it's illegal this sign would also be there.  then when i catch them on film with the game cams it's a easy conviction!!!!!

Finally got hold of the FWC's head man for crabs. ( Dan Ellinor).......He said the signs were made with FWC funds and were and are available for counties , comm.intrests, or individuals to be put up....He said there were some shipped to Dixie Co. recently..

I'm done, but still confused  Huh
