8 13/16"

Caught in NJ on 9/17.

He's a nice crab. It's unusual for them to have both  original claws at that age. Its like keeping your original  teeth until your 80. About 15 years ago my sister and her friend were crabbing with us. Her friend was kind of scared of the crabs. About half way through a run on the traps. I pulled a trap with a crab like that. I let it loose in the boat. My sister and her friend almost jumped off the boat laugh laugh I'll never forget that.

Congrats on the catch. It's stuff like that, that makes this lifestyle awesome. I have, am Im sure every crabber has great memories from being on the water.

So I guess Its its a Jersey sweep!   1-2-3!  Scap Cap and I were talking before the season about wanting to bring the title to Jersey, but I never thought we would claim all three spots! A great year for the Garden State!  Grin

With all the pics posted of bigger crabs, I figured my 8-7/16" didn't come close so I didn't post it.  This crab was scapped by me, witnessed by lbicrablooker on 9/28/15.  Lousy pic at night so took one next day.  Well, we started on 9/28 & got off the water on 9/29!   Grin

Salt Hay, Ron the Harbor Master, and ScapCapt are the NJ Crabin Trinity in my book.  Great Job!     Proud to know ya!  Sure would love to see all those crabs at the March Moose Lodge Feast!

Just kidding Ron but really wasen't aware that they grew that size in NJ. I guess if the salinity is right they can grow big anywhere.

I can remember pulling mumbos from Jersey waters back in the 60s and 70s, but then over the next few decades the overall average size decreased. Salt hay has posed the right question ... what WAS in the water this year?  Undecided
