For those of you who often look for reports around the Pamlico...if you haven't noticed the amount of pots from Bath to the railroad trestle in Washington, or haven't caught a crab yet.....well this is time to do so NOW. You could cut your finger off (please don't) and use it for bait they are that thick, even beyond the 17 bridge.

Well there certainly are a lot of pots. I have been catching pretty good off my dock in Blounts area but none are real big with a lot of tb's. Last Aug. there were few tb's, very few females, and no softies. This year so far am seeing more females and have caught 5 soft shells!

that is the first wave of girls, was one to start but back in May, winds prevailed from E ENE and they stopped. Knock on wood no storms or the water doesn't go bad, you'll see the most sooks in a long time that far up river, mark my word. Where I am at, I have been all season pretty much all season except a short stint off of Buxton. Now as of this past week I have company, lots of it. Last year there was only one other person around me, who normally sets there year after year. Good luck, don't shy away from the sooks, they taste just as good Smiley

I am planning a trip to the area in mid September. We are off Hwy 33 between Aurora and Hobucken [near the state boat ramp]. Think it will still be happening?
