Hey everyone,

I was wondering if I need a commercial license to sell crabs that I catch in my 25 topless traps.  If I have a banner day and want to sell some, am I allowed to do that?  Thanks for the comments in advance!

Always good to see a neighbor on the site CrabberGrabber - I live the next town over...  The previous posters are correct.  You do need a license to sell any food product - live, dead or only mostly dead.  This allows the board of health, dept of agriculture and other regulatory agencies to maintain reasonable health standards for food. 

I may have a loophole for you to consider.  While it is illegal to SELL crabs you have caught recreationally, bartering may be an option.  For example, if you have a banner day and need to unload a few dozen extra crabs, I know a guy on the other side of Route 13 who may be willing to offer cold beer as compensation for your labors Grin

Sharing Crabs is a Good thing just put the Seat Down. Roll Eyes
Ron is Trading Bartering,  or Sharing what value makes it selling, ,   Guess no matter how words are twisted The man has the Last word.
The Trophy Buck mount I have can not be sold, so it will be donated to NJDFG Pequest.  Even then it gets involved,
