Hey all--

I haven't posted any reports this year since I've been away all summer in the midwest ..no crabs there  Angry

I just returned to NC and am celebrating with a weekend trip down to Southern Shores with the dog and girlfriend. We are planning on doing some crabbing off of our kayaks but also are hoping to find a good dock to spend an afternoon on.

Any suggestions of good launch areas, public docks, tips/tricks, depths for the time of year? We are staying Sound Side just north of Martins point and are both novices at best.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my first time getting out to obx. Thanks!

There is a community owned boat ramp on sound side in SS if the house owners have membership/rear view mirror place card you can use area. Nice area to crab on piers, go out in sound (very shallow), but mostly females making there way to near ocean w/ birth sacs so leave them be... Best bet try off pier cache a few then head to seafood market (forgot name) on island west of Kitty Hawk memorial and buy a dozen or two large males live and stream yourself. p.s. I have taken jet ski by water and done just this from private pier... Good Luck hope this helps.
