males were around 6 inches. full but not very tasty. females looked smaller think they need some time to fatten up IMHO ps - the ones I bought came from the eastern shore

Mel's set a truck up on the side of the road in Prince Frederick. He's been there since April 2. He has a sign up for $9.75...I'm sure that is for females. For all prices he has a website.. http://www.melscrabs.com/

i just bought 7 bushels from maryland for my retail store in the south. If this is the best maryland has it is very sad. 3inch females 5 in #1s. over 150 to a bushel. Down here we get 80 in a bushel. you all think you are eating 7 or 8 inch crabs from the bay but they are really from the south.

......Maryland's season hasn't even begun to get underway. When it does full bore, we'll dwarf the that of all the southern states combine, harvesting 50% of the hard crabs totally. At that point, you'll see the quality rise. Right now, everyone is taking what they can get.

3 in females. Are you a retailer? If you are why did you not check your product and kick them back like any retailer or wholesaler in maryland would do. Unless the wholesaler whom sold them to you bought them from out of state for 80 and sold them to you for 150 hmmm the plot thickens. I know of no wholesaler around here(annapolis area) that would even take a bu of little females. I know I never did. Blame the wholesaler buying up seaside crabs. Thats where your problem is.

we are catching peelers now and shedding. so you cant catch hard crabs right now and the females are sponging. you are eating my 7 and 8 inch soft females now. give it a month are 2 and you will be eating my big number ones.
