Was a good day. Another 2 dozen + and lots of young female throwbacks. A commercial guy has moved into this small creek. I will be pulling on Wednesday and moving about 3 miles south to Turkey creek. Having done this for a living years ago, I know he doesn't need competition from a recreational guy.....and I don't need the hassle!.....and the creek won't sustain two of us very long.
Next report should be Wednesday.

You are doing well this year!
Last year at this time I had caught 16 Blue crabs. This year ZERO!

Shellfish
Not trying to tell you how to catch crabs, but what I'm doing is working......and I never dreamed it would!
I don't use fish for bait anymore. It seems that chicken is the ticket! Where I originate, being called a "chicken necker" is kinda an insult. BUT, rather than necks, which are usually .99 lb, I buy leg quarters from Walmart OR Winn Dixie. Cost is between $4.99 and $9.00 for 10 lb bags. I have been allowing a two day soak. I bought a cheap pool thermometer and a salt meter from Pet Smart. Tape the thermometer to something to make it sink. Surface temp on your depth finder means NOTHING! Try to get as far away from inlets as possible and check your salt level. I try to stay under 36ppm.
Like I said, this is something NEW to me after growing up doing this on the Chesapeake!
Again, this is all new to me! The boat I left in Maryland literally would NOT float in the water I am crabbing in! Sometimes, I have to pole my way to the pots with my 20' SeaHawk!
Going back out tomorrow.........we'll see
Hope I helped.
