I purchased 2 pots last year on northern neck Va at local hardware store and they had 4 openings for crabs to enter.
This year I purchased 2 for my wife but they had 3 openings.

Does anyone know the difference?

Another question, how many days is reasonable to leave pots without checking?

Thanks

I've seen 2 funnel crab pots used in some areas with lots of tidal flowing seaweed. The idea is to drop the cage so the closed sides (facing opposite towards incoming and outgoing tidal flow) to prevent the seaweed from entering the cage and clogging the funnels..

The difference is with 2 funnels you can squeeze a extra pot out of a roll of wire...
