Headed down to Kill Devil Hills the end of this month and while gathering some info I noticed http://portal.ncdenr.org/web/mf/maps-north-shellfish

Looks like everything north of Roanoke Island is currently off limits eh? Is this a normal situation this time of year, or should I plan to head out farther south when the time comes to do some crabbing the end of this month?

Crabs are crustaceans, not shellfish. oops

There are probably more crabs harvested in that red area than all the blue area!
