So from what I am reading to crab as a rec using a trot line the length of the line can only be 300 ft long?? Is that correct? How many traps can I use?  We have never been to Beth Page and plan on the wife towing the boat down.  What kind of fish should we b able to catch in the Rapp in August???  One last thing, the Chesapeake Bay & Coastal Boat sport license is there a reciprocal license agreement with MD & VA or am I going to have to buy a VA fishing/crabbing license?

You will need a trot line lic (I think $10 good for 2016), Hand line nothing. Lots of Croker, Spot, some Flounder/Bluefish and if your lucky, @ the mouth maybe a Cobia???

The total length is indeed 300'.  You can have more then one trotline license but the lines can not be connected.

If by traps you mean collapsible traps, you can use as many as you want.  VA considers them handlines.  They can be used 24/7/365.

If you mean pots, it's 2 per person...  Or you can buy a 5 pot commercial license.  If you get the 5 pot license you can not fish them on Sundays.

The Bay licenses are reciprocal between MD and VA.  But if you have a MD Bay ticket you must get a VA FIP number (its free).

Thanks for the responses guys.... Sounds like I need a crabbing license for the trot line and yes I meant collapsible traps.
