That stinks.  A few rotten apples certainly spoiled that basket.

Sad and too often an occurrence over the last few years. We lost complete shoreline access up here for an entire 44 acres park because ppl couldn't control themselves during a bluefish run........eight ounce sinkers are not nice when hurled into docked boats. Sucks because I used to catch nice blue claws there, even while snapper fishing.

As I read it, it really starts to appear like the property owner has a case of "get off my lawn".  The other neighbor had no problems.  Here is how you solve it.  It is Elsinboro.  What could the house be worth?  $120k?  150k?  Have the Tp. condemn the guy's house and make a parking lot for the ramp.  Done.  He is out and everyone gets the ramp they think is a good idea.  The town can charge for ramp access permits and make the money back over a few years.

It was a really nice ramp and the parking lot across the street was equal to the ramp.  Current was tough at times but what creek or river in NJ doesn't have a strong current?  Sad to see it closed because now the only option for river access is the ramp at Barbers Basin, just before the PSEG ramp or a little farther north on the Delaware at Pennsville.  Hopefully they can resolve it soon.

Wow!  A guy complains about people "walking on his lawn" and eminent domain is the answer.  Let me guess.  You're a lawyer, aren't you?

The town can condemn private property if they deem it a betterment to the community and give it to a private developer.  US Supreme court case decided that 10 years ago.  He is correct whether lawyer or not.

Really it is no worse than a guy complaining about people walking on his lawn, no else has an issue and now the ramp is closed.  What is worse - the town supporting a community asset or a curmudgeon getting his way because there was no one on notice to fight him?  Where was the RFA or any other sportsman group?  You can't believe PSE&G actually cared.  They met their "obligation" by installing it.  If some cry baby wants it closed what did they lose?

True perhaps.  But I did not drink the law school cool aid.  Lawyers often create problems where there was none, not solve problems.   I and the one who crabs too.

Realistically. What kind of credentials does a lawyer based in the town of West Bumfck in the middle of a swamp have?   LMAO  Hey, just look around and what do you see.

Sounds like the crackpot's complaints gave PSE&G extra work to do.  Strange. I worked 21 years for PSE&G and they are always eager to help the community. Odd they would throw in the towel too.

Put yourself in PSE&G's shoes.  The DEP makes them put in the ramp as a condition of other permits.  They did not do it as a charity.  The ramp is certainly some type of liability to them.  Then some clown starts screaming.  Then the clown starts costing them money.  You would do exactly what they did - put up some limp-spaghetti fight just to show that "you tried" and close the thing and be done with all the problems and exposure.  The Recreational Fishing Alliance or someone else should have been on notice to represent the public interest (now that New Jersey did away with the Public Advocate to save money).

He is correct whether lawyer or not.

I wasn't questioning the legality of it, just the morality of it.

I'm a CPA, not a lawyer.  Your comeback to Ron's comment was still funny.   Grin

I am a lawyer ( was engineer) and I would agree.  Most lawyers would flip the two status words.
