You had to be right on top of it to pick it up on the phone and it was in about 3 - 4 feet, so the range on the monitoring function is really limited in water. It was good way to see what was happening down there, but I wouldn't use it as a tool to better my catch.
Ok, that could make sense then because we were on a bridge about 10 feet up and the water was probably about 4 feet deep or so. Just like you, watching these videos are so cool and we enjoyed seeing what was happening with our bait and what came into our traps. In the canal in Avalon, we had many small sea bass, small sea robins (which I did not realize they kind of crawl on the sea floor) and small minnows tearing into the bait.
We also noted that the crabs did not enjoy trying to figure out how to get the bait when several of the trap doors did not open. Maybe this is why ring traps would be better.
