What is the best way to transport blue crabs in the Texas heat over a 6-7 hour drive or would it be best to boil them before I leave? How long can I keep them before I leave I am leaving Saturday morning?

I put about 15lbs of ice in the bottom of my large cooler and cover it with some damp towels ( keep the drain plug open). I put the crabs in making sure they are right side up, then cover them with a few more damp towels. The last time I did this, I kept them for 30 hours and only lost 5.
