Anyone ever been?  Are the crabs alive before they steam them?  Will someone who enjoys fresh crabs regularly be disappointed?

Do they serve female crabs? lol

Personally, I wouldn't go there on moral grounds.

http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2014/02/20/chickies-petes-paying-8-million-to-settle-employee-complaints-lawsuits/

The company settled with the US Department of Labor for $6.8 million, and settled with a private group under a civil action for $1.6 million dollars.  Again, that was the amount they settled for.

Yea that was for CRAB FRIES

They managed to trademark "Crab Fries" and then went after every shop anywhere that used the term, some of which had been serving "Crab Fries" for decades! It was a crappy thing to do!

Mike was talking about when they were stealing the employee tips! Another really crappy thing to do!!!!!

Both make them a place that would never get my hard earned money.......

They probably buy their crabs from poachers too!!! Wink Grin

Steve, I actually started to rant about that, but just erased it before I posted.  I agree totally and forgot about about the attacks on the little guys calling the fries crab fries.  It's frigging old bay on french fries.

Yup, you are totally correct! They make it sound like they did years worth of research to perfect the secret recipe. Bottom line is, it's Old Bay on fries!!!!

I completely agree and that has been my position ever since I learned what they were doing years ago.  Marketed to the working guy and ripping off the staff.

Funny thing is..I live 2 blocks from the original Chickie's..but..there is a place right around the corner from Chickie's called The Grey Lodge..better fries there...hand cut and deep fried in seasoning...outstanding..voted #12 in the USA by Chicago magazine..and #1 by Philly magazine...and the Grey Lodge has 32 brews on tap from all over the world..heaven on earth...BTW..when there is a full moon on fri the 13th,no matter what month,The Lodge places kegs up on the bar and charges 50 cent for a 12 oz glass..needless to say,I have been there on these occasions..and funny thing is,I remember going in,but the walk home is kinda blurry  sick sick sick smug smug smug smug smug
