Had enough of the rain.  Couldn't stay another minute in the house.  In the rain loaded the boat and went crabbing in Lake Pontchartrain.  South wind leeward shoreline.  Launched the boat around noon in a light drizzle.  Headed eastward down the south shore line looking for dirty water.  About 2 miles dropped the first of 2 lines.  5 crabs on first run.  Nothing huge but fat medium crabs.  Made a mistake and dropped the first line parallel to the shore.  Wind blew me all over the place.  Dropped the second line North South direction.  Much better results.  After the first 4 runs zero keeper crabs.  Had to constantly move the lines after the forth run.  After a few hours ended up with 58 fat crabs.  Most 5 1/2 to 6 inches.  Enough to boil for me and the neighbors.

2-600' lines baited with cn
4-8 feet of water
cloudy windy and rain

Nice catch. Your neighbors must be glad you braved the rain.   At least the rain cools it down. The last couple of months it has been so hot I have not even been to the coast. The bay water has been in the nineties.  It looks like we are in for a week of rain maybe I will give it a try next weekend.

Your getting the rain we had.  Hope it isn't as bad.  At least not as bad as this past spring.

Nice report.

Wish we could get a little of your rain. The system which brought you so much rain is slowly and I mean s-l-o-w-l-y moving westward. It is just to the east of me. Yesterday's 70% of rain produced no rain for us. Hoping to get a little rain today since our chance of rain is pegged at 90% for Sunday.

BTW, nice table of crabs. I know you enjoyed eating those crabs.

Ronnie - is any of the flooding down there near you?

Nice report.  Some of the best crabbing I've ever seen has been in stormy/rainy/windy conditions.  He who braves the conditions gets the spoils!

No Suzy.  30-60 miles North flooded bad.  The rains have stopped but the rivers are cresting double flood stage.  Areas that made it OK during the rainstorm are now flooding due to over filled rivers.

Rivers overflowed their banks causing I-12, I-10 and I-55 to shut down.  1,000 people were stranded on I-12 for 30+ hours because the rivers East and West flooded the interstate and they couldn't go anywhere.

Its a mess and this wasn't a tropical system.

Bass Pro Shop in Denham Springs got flooded.  Haven't heard anything about Cabela's.  There are little further south on I-10.  About 25 miles or so.  That area got hit hard to but no word yet.
