Set out 12 pots August 25th - 29th in Topsail sound. Had a very hard time getting bait for them this time Sad Also had problems Sunday with certain people pulling my pots ( only had 6 crabs in 12 pots ) which was quite disturbing especially after I had told them twice to leave them alone. Ended up the weekend with 229 crabs caught with 67 keepers. Saw a few stone crabs this time but most were small or missing claws. Pots were set in 3-5 feet of water . Hope to be back at it in a couple weeks- let the Labor Day crowd have em this coming weekend. Be safe !

You would do even better if you didn't let people help themselves to your traps. I would put a stop to that

I love the late summer and fall. We are over the hump now. Things start to slow down. The vacationers start to leave and traffic starts getting back to normal. The ducks are going to be coming in and the crabs are the biggest and heaviest of the year.

I didn't " Let them " but there isn't much I can do about it than to run them off. The game warden can't do much if he didn't actually see them and they can't be everywhere seeing everything. Its not much I can do either when there are 8-12 people casting nets and swimming all around where I set the pots. They know exactly what the floats mean and seem to go out of their way to walk all over them
