I'm looking for volunteers to help with the annual clean up of the Corbin City WMA Area.    The clean up will be held on Saturday 10/29 from 7 am to 11 am.   Last year we pulled out two overwhelming truckloads of garbage.

Donuts, coffee and juice will be served for breakfast at 7 am at the birding platform.    We'll also have hand lines, bait and nets for the kids to catch crabs during the clean up.   Hopefully we can catch enough to enjoy a few steamed crabs and hot dogs afterwards at 11 am.

Volunteers will be furnished with trash bags and gloves.

If you'd like to help out, please let me know here, or visit the Cleanup's event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/1409442382403757/ to RSVP.

Thanks in advance to those who can help.

Just thinking out loud for a minute....but maybe entry in the Assault - which is currently free, against the odds of everything in NJ - should be conditioned upon some kind of give back....participation in one of the local clean ups, a donation, take a Big Brother (or Big Sister) pair out for an afternoon, something.

You work hard on the Assault and other things.  And sometimes there are nothing but rock-throwers and takers afoot.  Where is the payback and good will for the community going to keep coming from when you run out of free time and/or patience?  It is not your job to ensure that the crabbing community is not perceived like a bunch of selfish jerks, yet sometimes - particularly lately - the boards are just a bitch-fest.  How about those with the talk and the complaints step up?

Complaining is easy.    Doing something is a much harder proposition.   You know this.    Wink

Haven't been on in awhile.  I'm actually hoping to be down there this Saturday for my first trip out all year (sadly, yes, really).

But I should be able to make the cleanup again.  Will know the kids' soccer schedule closer to, hopefully they can come along as well this time.

If they could provide trash cans at each pipe area and empty them on a regular basis, then maybe we would not have to do an annual clean up,just a thought.

Or instead of using taxpayer money to clean up after a few inconsiderate people, folks could bring their own trash bags when they go crabbing.  Just a thought.  Wink

It's a carry in/carry out facility.     The lack of a trash can is absolutely no excuse to litter.

I will say that there was far less trash this year than last year.

Ron....It would be nice if you would write a story and send pictures of the Corbin City WMA clean up to possibly be published in the New Jersey Federation News.
