After debating the weather, I decided to put my traps out Saturday hoping to pull them in on Monday.  The weather forecast at the time called for rain, but it looked like there was going to be a couple of hours of clear weather in the afternoon.   With this in mind, I put the traps out Saturday morning about a mile from the launch.  I would have put them out a couple of miles downstream, but thought I may be needing to get to them quick with the weather.

This morning, I woke to a weather forecast of 35 to 70 percent all day, but no rain.  A quick look at the radar showed heavy rain north of Houston, but clear skies in my area.  By the time I finished working out and eating breakfast the forecast had been updated to 0% chance of rain until noon.  Time to get my crabs.

I launched the boat about 8 am under beautiful sunny skies and 72-degree temperatures.  I sure could have put the traps downstream. Oh well.  I ended up with 15 mixed crabs.  Nothing big and a few barely legal.  Not great, but good enough for a couple meals for me.  I got to use my Christmas present cajun cooker.  The duel jet burners get the water to a boil in short order.

I was having a hard time getting me and the boat in the photo at the same time.  My tears from the game had changed to smiles when the Cowboys got beat on Sunday.  Nothing could have been worse than the Cowboys in the Super Bowl in Houston.  Besides, the Texans won more playoff games this year than the Cowboys!  Grin

My son has a duel jet burner and he loves it.  I'm going to buy one this spring.

BTW I'm selling the house in Montz and moving back to Kenner in my old house. Huh Huh

Did you miss our old town?  I didn't know you stilled owned the old house.

My wife got my burner at Academy.  It looks like it is going to work well come crawfish season.  They are starting to sell them at the local seafood shop for $2.79 a pound by the sack.

Pond crawfish are starting to kick off.  Should be full swing by end of February.  By that time the water levels should be high enough for me to start putting out my traps.  The bad new is the price will be down to $1 a pound.  I'm glad I don't have to do this for a living.

I've been renting the Kenner house since we moved.  And yes I miss the old neighborhood where neighbors come and hang out on the front porch and support each other.  Pure middle class.  Lets say I didn't fit in with this neighborhood. laugh laugh

They dropped to 2.22 lb.  Unbelievable for so early in the season. I like your house in Kenner.
