I ve only found a few of those in all my years hunting, maybe because i try not to disturb bedding areas as much as possible. I also was not aware that shed antlers are illeagal to have without a tag for them, meaning the would have to be checked in. That's state law in Maryland and in Ohio as far as i know. I found this out through a nefew who lives i ohio who does taxiderimy and had all his sheds and skulls he found over the years confiscated when the local game wardens checked his biz, i then checked md law and found the same.WTF

Wow, I never heard of the law....I have a 7 pt. skull/antler hanging over my garage doors that I found 20 feet behind one of my stands a few years back.

I give the smaller racks to the dogs as chews.  They are indestructible and the dogs love them

My kids and I have started to look for them, any tips?
I don't hunt, just something fun to do while we hike

Thank you!

Best simple article I have read about shed finds.  Also a great company to deal with for clothes.  Nice clothes at a reasonable price (esp during their clearance sales) and the last.

We have Tax ditches everywhere here. We walk the ones along  the fields, find the trails and check both directions. Many are found in the fields where they feed. A fresh snowfall is great,it gives up all the trails they are using. Most farmers will let you search their fields. The unseen sheds do a number on their tires and equipment.
Here's a few of the bigger ones we've found over the yrs.

You can keep the sheds you find, but if you find a scull with horns you have to pay $10 a point to the state if you want to keep it. Pa. Laws can you believe this one.

What hardshell tony said, also......any where the deer might have to jump and hit ground harder, like a fence or into a creek bottom, the sudden jolt knocks em loose and Ive found them.
