I'm looking at water temps and hopefully I can make it down to cape Charles for an early trip in the next 30 days. I usually look for 60deg water temp. What temps do you all look for? This might be the first year in a long time I crabbed instead of trolling for trophys.

I'm crossing fingers

Commercial crabbers were limiting out on crabs the first week in March before this cold spell moved in.It's over for right now. Another 2 weeks and you can go down and catch some crabs and flounder. Commercial season started March 1st. Recreational season starts March 17. Only 1 bushel per day per boat recreational in Virginia. 1 bushel per day pp when caught from shore .

* It is unlawful for any person to place, set, or fish or knowingly leave any hard crab pot or peeler pot in any Virginia tidal waters from December 21 through February 28 [4 VAC 20-270-40]. In fact you can crab with hand lines (collapsible traps are considered hand lines in va.) 24/7/365. Cool

In that case, it looks like you missed the first crab run in Virginia Chilli.
