The 10th paragraph is interesting. Could explain why there are more crabs in NY.  I'm all for giving the females a month more to het pregnant.   Heck, the article about crabs in NY means there is hope for crabs living in a city with lots of people and industry.

Yes.  And there are some crabbers on here that will only keep large females in the fall.  That is a start, and I hope more people follow there lead.
