Interesting article.

A similar on-going tagging study involving Chesapeake Bay's blue crabs has resulted in some surprising results. Many of the tagged crabs have been recovered in North Carolina waters, and one female tagged in Chesapeake Bay was recovered 234 days later and almost 650 miles away in Florida

I hope they don't publish the findings about the movement of the females. That is all we need is more people targeting them.

People only target them because the state they crab in allows it. And if the male crabs get scarce, females legally taken, may happen more. Then the management personnel will have to come up with another plan to help keep the crabs plentiful. Wonder what that may be ? LOL
The movement of that one female crab at that distance is surprising. First off, the fact it wasn't caught(if legal size), is surprising. Maybe because it was tagged, someone may have caught it and released it. I didn't have a clue they traveled so far. I knew they traveled down to the ocean to spawn.
