Cooked some crabs Down Under with Old Bay

Hi All,
Been a while since I have posted here but a couple of young kids at home will do that.
I picked up some Old Bay when we were in Hawaii last year and hadn't got around to trying it out back here in Australia.
First I started with our version of your Blue Crab (Australian Blue Swimmer crabs) and I followed a recipe I found online which consisted of a 50/50 mix of Apple Cider Vinegar and water to steam the crabs with. I placed the crabs on a steaming rack and I think it was about 10 mins steaming time for the three leftover crabs I had.
After steaming I cleaned them and got to picking out the crab meat and putting it in a bowl (and had a taste here and there of course). Well you could certainly say they were different to what I was used to which is normally straight crab meat on fresh white bread with vinegar. Not sure how you all eat them once you have picked the meat but I made a couple of crab sandwiches on fresh white bread and they were great. I'll give it another go same way soon unless anyone can chime in with the "ultimate" method start to finish that I must try out.
I look forward to getting back to mainland USA one day and hopefully I end up somewhere I can try out real Blue Crab as a comparison. If I do I'll certainly report back my findings.
Pete

They look delicious. Thanks for sharing the pics and how you eat your crabs. I enjoy just picking the meat out of the shells and eating them that way with an ice cold beer. Crab cakes are also delicious.

I know this is an old post but instead of water use a light beer. For such a small batch you can cut the liquid back. But I use one can of beer and about half cup of apple cider vinegar.

It’s on my bucket list to try crabbing down there. Me and the wife have been trying to hit a different crabbing spot every year. This year it was either Louisiana(my choice)or Oregon (hers). She won the coin flip and it looks like Dungeness crabs this year.
