is it true that this year for boats under 26 feet you only need a throw cushion and not a life ring?

Don't know, but I have a life ring, it's a life saver for people in trouble. Twice I have used it to help folks in trouble. Easy to throw, I hang it from the middle cleat, and the DNR see it easily. Really only been stopped twice, maybe the ring help cause that. It's orange and visible. Now you can sit on a cushion.  BTW, the ring doesn't have a line to it.

Been a few years since a ring was required on a commercial vessel under 26'.

Comes in handy when you are by yourself. Roll Eyes

That's why the line rule is so stupid.  By the time you get your cushion or ring, untangle the line, and try to throw it, the person your trying to help will be drowned.
