Nothing happening yet. Need a dry stretch and maybe a few 80 degree days. Was there a few days ago... not 1 crab.

I've been occasionally tossing a pot off a neighbor's unused dock in Parkers Creek for about 6 weeks. Pulled up 4 male keepers (2 over 6 inches) in about a day in a half on May 4th. But really nothing since then.
Dumped some rotten bait out of the pot and dropped in back in about a week ago...pulled it up yesterday to re-bait it and found 2 keepers in the empty pot, heh. Baited and re-baited since...nothing.
Any day now...

Headed there yesterday. 2 hours incoming , 3 out. Crabs were running both tides. Left with 22 nice size crabs. Not many babies at all. Just wish folks would clean up after themselves. Garbage all around.

I agree, people leave garbage all over around the bridges. Its only a matter of time before the municipality gets tired of cleaning up and posts signs telling people they cant use the area. But the crabbing is good!

Still see people there in the AM. I dropped a few traps there last week and didn't see much worth while, while a few days before there were a good amount.

Almost nothing. Need deeper water at this point I think. Been tossing some pots off a neighbor's dock halfway between Oceanport bridge and Goosepoint bridge and have only pulled up 4 keepers and a couple shorts the past week.

OH no hope this is not the end of the crabbing season at this spot!! My other favorite place ( Dock Outfitters) is also not so hot. It is too early to be so bad. Last year I crabbed into November...

Not sure if the cold water has moving in.
Last Monday was 71 in the Navesink for a water temp. Well above where it should be. And we have had warm nights. The cold 40-50 degree fall nights are just staring this week

So are you saying that the water temp drop might be good for crabbing?

The opposite in fact. If the water stayed warm we could crab indefinitely. Cold drives them into hibernation. That dropping water temp signals end to the season. The nights this week of 40 degree air will start driving the end of this season. The first to die off is the shallows as the water cools off and the crabs move deeper to more stable tolerable water temps. So are you saying that the water temp drop might be good for crabbing?

Since I posted a few days ago...2 pots, freshly baited (fresh chicken quarters)...only 1 short. I think I'm going to hose off the pots and put them away for the winter. I need a boat.

I THINK I WOULD TOO.
RE-string them. Gluegun the knots. Loose the cabbage. Spruce them up. Get all the salt out of the lines
