Ok who can tell me the difference between J.O no1 and J.O no2 and witch one you guys prefer on your steam crabs? I have been useing no1 for years and love it but I might try no2 I have heard that it sticks to the crabs better during steaming. Thanks

I have never tried JO #1, and I hear it's somewhat similar to Old Bay, but I used to only use Old Bay to steam my crabs. After reading many posts about how most everyone on this forum uses JO#2, I decided to give it a try last year and now I use that to steam my crabs. It's probably more salty then #1. To help make it stick better, wet your crabs and add some ground mustard to your mix.  I also add other seasonings to the JO to give some other flavors to my crabs, but that's just my preference.

Most folks here use JO#2 but I prefer JO#1.
JO#1 has less salt than JO#2 but that's the only difference.

Here a link to JO spice.. Check out the "Dumpster Cure" product.  Look at the products, it tells what spices they have.

Yeah I heard it's more salty but from what I heard no2 is the way to go for steaming crabs so I will just have to try some to see. Thanks for all the info

JO #1 and add the salt you want.  just buy a box of rock salt and add to your liking.  In the long run, it will be cheaper.

it is cheaper but you are paying for a lot for salt but for some the convenience is worth the price.
