Hello friends,
I headed out early Saturday morning to try my luck in a new area I found .  I use ring nets with chicken necks and handlines as usual.  After dropping all my lines in and givings them about 15 minutes . The first pull I caught 2 5 to 6 inch Jimmies and 1 monster  Grin  Grin. I wound up catching a total of 14 jimmies and they were all good sized .  They were delicious and a great treat on Father's day weekend.

Thanks for the report and pictures! That one big one looks real nice but how big was it? Did you measure it?
I haven't seen you by Goodriches lately and was wondering where you were going now.
I haven't seen Witchy lately either.

Shellfish,
The big one measured 8 inches and is the one in the pic. I also caught 3 more that were over 7 inches .
This was the first time I've had a chance to go crabbing since we talked up by Goodriches. I haven't been able to get away from work .  I found this spot while fishing with a friend and decided to give it a shot, glad I did  Cheesy
I hope all is well with you my friend ?  I'm sure we'll see each again soon.

Tootallwal, Thanks for the reply and that is a very respectable crab! I am fine and I hope you are too! Yes, I am sure we will meet again somewhere!
A couple years ago I caught 121 crabs or there abouts for the year and only two were 6.5 inches or above! They were all from the New Smyrna-Edgewater area.
I have heard that the Banana River holds the bigger crabs in the area.
I have a friend who is a commercial crabber and he gets some big ones out of Lake George by Salt Springs.
