Looking for a bit of clarification.  I have been crabbing comm. With a deck hand for 3 years now.  We have always been together when crabbing.  If I decided I couldn't go one day, could he still crab on my boat?  What type if paperwork would be involved?  I'm not talking g about leasing, because it would be a normal occurrence, can't you technically have an employee work your licence?

You have to declare him as your authorized user on your lic. and you can only do that 1 time per year and you have to do it at renewal which is end of August. You must also put your vessel on the lic.

Ah ok.  I heard that could only be done for a direct relative.  But I had heard if some places owning a licence but having other people use their boats for them

your confusing autherized user and benifisary. autherized user is any one you want to let run your vessel and use your lic if you can not. benifisuary is who gets your lic if you die. Both can only be changed at renewal time. Sorry for the spelling.
