Just trying to find some reports from those that use crab pots. Im too old lazy fat and riddled with pain to crab more effective but labor intense way.

You can only use pots if you have water front property. 2 per household. To set them out on open water you need a commercial license in MD.

Oh i didnt know that. I only have 2 total out on mother in law pier. Dont catch much in em though. Correct me if i am wrong but isnt using trot lines a more effective way to catch crab? I mean in the time it takes for a crab to crawl in each pot the guy using trotline has his total and on his way home? Strange they dont allow rec crabbers to use pots.

checked and the law reads 2 pots per property OR pier.........gee,for a few days i thought I was legal all them years  cool4

Plus in Maryland beginning 3 years ago the property owner needs to register with DNR to be legal with the 2 pots. Registration is free, but you have to mark the pots with your DNR I.D.# and renew the registration every year. NRP was in my creek about 2 weeks ago checking everyone's pots and writing tickets. Shocked They didn't bother mine, I guess they saw the ID tag on the ropes.
