Went out at 1 pm with 1,200 foot trot line with chicken necks and also brought 5 traps.   had the  end of incoming tide,  seas fairly calm until about 3 pm with  tide change and then SE winds 15 -20 amd rain to our south with dark clouds and river became a washing machine.    weather man said it would be SW 5-10, guess he was wrong again.  had a lot of trouble running the trot line in those conditions  .   caught a total of 21 crabs after 4 hours..    a lot of the bait was not even touched on the trot line, so back in the freezer it went .    seems like this year  so far is not as good as last year.  i think  the crabs just are not here in great numbers or size yet.   hopefully soon.

Thanks for sharing your report and it is tough to run a trot line sometimes in the River. And I agree with you that the crabs are not here in the numbers that were here last year. We have had lots of rain this year too, so I am sure that is not helping.

yeah,  definitely not like last year.  today,  i went out at 11:30 and crabbed for 4 hours.  only brought  the trot line ,  no traps .    weather was absolutely beautiful this afternoon and calm seas.  had incoming  tide.  did good for the first 2 hours then someone turned off the light switch.  ended up with 33 crabs after 4 hours.  but ... had a great day on the water .
